Climate Diplomacy Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) 1
Main Purpose of Job:
To support and promote UK government activity on climate change, energy and environment in Japan.
What will the Jobholder be Expected to Achieve:
Working under the supervision of the Climate Change and Energy Policy Officer and as part of a wider team, the job holder will provide administrative and logistical support for engagement activities on climate change, energy and environment in Japan. The job holder will have a strong focus on delivering media and communication activities including posting on social media.
Arrange meetings and events with stakeholders in Japan
- Provide logistical support to set up meetings, seminars, and other engagement
- Provide general administrative support for the team including event coordination, calendar management and travel arrangements
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, responding to inquiries and requests
- Maintain records and databases.
Media and communications
- Support the delivery of the UK Government’s climate, energy and environment media and communications strategy in Japan
- Working closely with the Embassy’s Media, Communications and Marketing Team, prepare social media content including some translation work, video and infographics production
- Help arrange meetings and briefings with media outlets and support engagement with the media on publishing editorials and other content
- Help arrange public speaking opportunities for Embassy staff and senior visitors from the UK
Research and policy support
- Assist in conducting research on climate change, energy and environment policy and mapping commitments by various organisations
- Assist with the preparation of documents, presentations, and reports
Visits and events
- Provide logistical support for senior visitors’ programmes in Japan and for events organised by the Embassy
Corporate
- Take on corporate tasks to deliver wider embassy objectives
- Take on and prepare for a crisis role

対象・条件
- Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a relevant field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an administrative or comms role
- Experience (or interest) in climate change, energy and environment issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A good team player
- Experience in (or good understanding of) communications and social media landscape
Language Requirements:
- Japanese and English
- Level of language required: High degree of fluency in Japanese (JLPT 1 or equivalent) and business level in English (IELTS Band 7, TOEIC 875 or equivalent)
