概要
Trade Commissioner (Creative Industries), (Green Building and Infrastructure)
Under the direction of a Canadian diplomat, the Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada to Japan advances Canada’s commercial interests in Japan in one of the two areas below:
- Cultural and creative industries, with a focus on music, digital entertainment (gaming, virtual reality, special effects, animation, etc.), and visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, ceramic, etc.); or
- Green building and infrastructure, including forest and wood products, construction and transportation infrastructure.
The Trade Commissioner provides market advice and services to Canadian companies and organizations; facilitates connections; plans and implements initiatives in responsible sectors to promote bilateral trade and collaboration; drafts project-related documents such as briefing notes, event reports, meeting summaries and other communication products; establishes and maintains a network of local contacts to stay abreast of sectoral developments and trends; other duties as required.
Area of Selection:
This position is open to internal and external applicants who are legal residents or citizens of Japan and employees in Government of Canada Missions based in Japan who meet all the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews Successful candidates requiring relocation to Tokyo shall do so at their own expense.

Operational Requirements:
- Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as required, sometimes on short notice.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Bachelor's degree from a government recognized university
Language:
- Advanced proficiency level (reading, writing and speaking) in English
- Advanced proficiency level (reading, writing and speaking) in Japanese
Experience:
- Experience working in international business development and/or trade promotion, and/or in an organization with international activities.
- Experience organizing, planning and promoting events and/or projects
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Knowledge of and/or experience related to cultural and creative industries, such as music, digital entertainment or visual arts.
- Knowledge of and/or experience related to green building or infrastructure, such as forest products, clean technologies, construction and transportation.
- Experience working or studying in Canada.
- Ability to read, understand and communicate in French.
