概要
Aimed to support and reinvigorate disarmament education activities, the Armament and Disarmament Summer School is both a course and networking opportunity for the next generation of professionals in the field of disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control. The Summer School consists of a five-day programme of in-person lectures, seminars and training workshops on armament and disarmament matters that endeavours to develop knowledge and skills and to motivate and empower emerging specialists to further expand their expertise in these critical issues and beyond.
The course will feature a variety of opportunities and activities including:
- Lectures and discussions on armament and disarmament by leading experts in the field
- Skill-building workshops and training sessions
- Visits to institutions working on issues in the field of armament and disarmament
The Summer School seeks to contribute to global efforts to create a strong community of highly professional like-minded peace researchers and practitioners from around the world, who are striving to shape and promote a secure, peaceful and sustainable future.
Dates, location and cost
The Summer School will take place on 25–29 August 2025. It will be held in Sweden at the premises of SIPRI and the AMC at Uppsala University. The cost of the course as well as all essential costs required for participation (including train or air travel to Stockholm, visa costs, travel insurance, local transportation in Sweden, food and accommodation) will be fully covered for all participants. Other personal expenses will be at the participant’s own cost.

対象・条件
The Summer School is for 25 highly motivated students, researchers, policymakers, practitioners or other junior professionals with a relevant profile from governmental or non-governmental organizations or think tanks. Applicants must have a completed bachelor’s degree before the course begins and need to be currently enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, university. Applicants who have previously participated in the Summer School are not eligible.
The selection committee actively promotes diversity, equity and inclusion in terms of gender, geographic distribution and representation across different types of academic disciplines among participants. We especially encourage women, members of underrepresented groups, and candidates from developing countries to apply.
The programme will be conducted in English without the possibility of interpretation or translation and requires a high-level of English language proficiency.
